🦀 Karkinos – The Multi-Tasking Titan of Aberration
The Karkinos is a colossal, crab-like creature hailing from the depths of Aberration, prized in PvE for its extreme versatility, superior mobility, and powerful carry mechanics. While its unique movement and controls take some getting used to, once mastered, the Karkinos becomes an indispensable tame for base logistics, creature transportation, cave exploration, and boss preparation.
🏋️♂️ 1. Dual Grab and Creature Carrying
-
The Karkinos can grab two creatures simultaneously, one in each claw, including:
-
Allies, for fast repositioning or cave entry
-
Tamed dinos, like Doedicurus or Ankylosaurus
-
-
Ideal for resource farming setups, letting it carry harvesters to metal, obsidian, or stone-rich zones and bring them back easily.
📝 Best synergy with Doedicurus and Ankylosaurus
🗻 2. Extreme Mobility
-
Can perform massive jumps, allowing it to:
-
Traverse ravines, cliffs, and vertical terrain
-
Navigate hazardous areas in Aberration like the bioluminescent zone or radiation zones (with hazard suit)
-
-
Immune to fall damage, making it a safe scout and mobility tame across maps like Fjordur, Extinction, and Genesis.
🛡️ 3. Tough and Tanky
-
High base health and weight capacity make it excellent for:
-
Cave runs where tanking and mobility matter
-
Holding supplies, harvested materials, or tames during expeditions
-
💢 4. Decent Crowd Control
-
Its sweeping claw attacks hit wide and can knock back multiple enemies.
-
While not a DPS machine like a Giga or Rex, it's great for:
-
Controlling chokepoints in caves or narrow valleys
-
Farming chitin by smashing bugs, scorpions, and spiders
-
🧬 5. Synergy with Creatures and Equipment
-
Carries creatures like a mobile platform, making it invaluable for:
-
Doedicurus: gather stone while carried, saving time and trips
-
Ankylosaurus: mine metal from cliffs and easily retreat
-
-
With cryopods, it's even more effective—grab, cryo, and go.
⚠️ 6. Requires Careful Handling
-
The grab mechanic and jump timing take practice.
-
Not rideable in all cave types due to size—may get stuck in tight spaces.
-
Cannot attack while grabbing in both claws, so needs support in combat.
